In Les Désorientés, I draw very freely on my own youth. I spent it with friends who believed in a better world. And while none of the characters in this book are real people, none are entirely imaginary. I drew on my dreams, my fantasies, my remorse, as much as my memories. The novel's protagonists had been inseparable in their youth, then had dispersed, fallen out, lost touch. They meet again when one of them dies. Some never wanted to leave their homeland, others emigrated to the United States, Brazil or France. And the paths they followed led them in the most diverse directions. A.M.
Dans Les Désorientés, je m'inspire très librement de ma propre jeunesse. Je l'ai passée avec des amis qui croyaient en un monde meilleur. Et même si aucun des personnages de ce livre ne correspond à une personne réelle, aucun n'est entièrement imaginaire. J'ai puisé dans mes rêves, dans mes fantasmes, dans mes remords, autant que dans mes souvenirs. Les protagonistes du roman avaient été inséparables dans leur jeunesse, puis ils s'étaient dispersés, brouillés, perdus de vue. Ils se retrouvent à l'occasion de la mort de l'un d'eux. Les uns n'ont jamais voulu quitter leur pays natal, d'autres ont émigré vers les États-Unis, le Brésil ou la France. What defines the prices of the books?
As a passionate small business owner, my goal is to offer a high level of quality imported from France at the best price. I understand that some people may be surprised by the difference of price between French and American books. In France, books are more expensive as authors and illustrators get larger copyright compensations. Also, imports cost quite a bit if you take into account the price of transport as well as the weight of what is being transported. I appreciate your constant support, when you choose sustainable small businesses over large corporations.
