Are you French?
Yes, I am French. I am from Paris!
I have travelled around the world, and this is the second time I am settling in SoCal to set up my bookstore.
Do you have a shop?
My main way of meeting you is book fairs, festivals and private sales. I also have a physical location present in Orange County accessible via appointment only. Please contact me through text to get more information!
Are you the one making the selection?
Yes! I make my own selection based on my experience as a mother of 3 children, that is passionate about French literature and with a background in global education as a teacher and a librarian. I also select books based on recommendations from teachers I know. I make sure to align my collection with French education programs and with the programs of schools I work with. My selection is made up of classics, essentials, and novelties...
How do you choose your books?
I also have two main factors that guide my choice: price and content. I try to select books that are not overpriced and I make sure that the content of what I sell is adapted and inclusive to all cultures.
What defines the prices of the books?
As a passionate small business owner, my goal is to offer a high level of quality imported from France at the best price. I understand that some people may be surprised by the difference of price between French and American books. In France, books are more expensive as authors and illustrators get larger copyright compensations. Also, imports cost quite a bit if you take into account the price of transport as well as the weight of what is being transported. I appreciate your constant support, when you choose sustainable small businesses over large corporations.
Are the books that you sell new?
Yes! All the books that I sell are new.
They are all imported from France from a plethora of French editors.
Where do you travel to?
All over the West Coast!I started in Los Angeles, then Orange County, the San Diego, the Santa Barbara, San Francisco...Everywhere there is an organization who wants to promote reading books in French.

Ordering
When will my order ship?
Our team needs 1-2 business days to pack and ship your full order. For larger items, we ask that you allow 3-4 business days. Orders placed after 1:00 pm EST on Friday — or over the weekend — will ship on the next business day.
Where do you ship to?
We only ship to United States of America. For custom and shipping price reasons

Books
How are the books sourced?
As a Bookstore owner, I have a large culture on the current trends on the French Market regarding which books are getting attention. I also know all the curriculum in American school to know what books are needed for what grades. I work with a lot of teachers in the beginning of the school year to define their needs too.
I also work with preferred suppliers to provide you with a book at a decent price (despite tariffs and huge shipping cost).
How accurate are the colors shown in your photos?
At BOOKS-Toyo, we make every effort to accurately represent the colours of our products in our photos. However, please note that colours may vary slightly due to different display settings and lighting conditions. We recommend referring to the product descriptions and details for additional information about the colour and material of the items. If you have any specific colour-related queries, our customer support team is always available to assist you. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we strive to provide you with the best shopping experience possible.
Returns
What is your Return Policy?
All sales are finals due to imported products.

Payment
Do you offer cash on delivery?
At Clotilde French Bookstore, we currently do not offer Cash on Delivery (COD) as a payment option. However, we provide a secure and convenient online payment system that includes various payment methods, such as credit/debit cards, PayPal, and other digital payment options, ensuring a seamless shopping experience for our valued customers. Our priority is to offer efficient and reliable services, and we continuously strive to enhance your satisfaction with every aspect of your shopping journey.
Can I pay with my International Credit Card?
Even though you will have the option, the cost of those credit cards are pretty high for small vendors like me. I have to accept them online, but in person, I will charge an extra 3% to cover the cost that the credit card processing platform impose me
Can I use Afterpay for products that will ship to California?
At Clotilde French Bookstore, we currently do not offer Afterpay as a payment option for customers in California and various other regions.
