A Nobel Prize in Literature, a dramatic family history, and the trials and tribulations of the first half of the last century: Colm Tóibín's intimate account of Thomas Mann's life unfolds like a sweeping epic. Thanks to his wife, the fascinating Katia Pringsheim, the writer patiently builds a multifaceted body of work and leads a seemingly comfortable life that protects him from his demons. But for his children, he will forever remain the distant head of a family that doesn't quite know how to love each other. Christopher Isherwood, Alma Mahler, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt all played a role in the transformation of the conservative bourgeois into a committed intellectual in the face of the rise of Nazism, who would eventually experience the ordeal of exile. Tóibín evokes the intimate impulses of a lonely man in search of impossible happiness, a genius known as The Magician.

FAQ
Here are the answers to the most common questions I get asked, please review them and reach out to me if you need more info on something, I love to help you pick the right book, just for you!
Are the books New?
Yes, all the books that I sell during my bookfairs or online on my e-boutique are brand new.. You will be the very first to flip all the pages and enjoy the feeling of holding your own book in your hand.
What defines the prices of the books?
As a passionate small business owner, my goal is to offer a high level of quality imported from France at the best price. I understand that some people may be surprised by the difference of price between French and American books. In France, books are more expensive as authors and illustrators get larger copyright compensations. Also, imports cost quite a bit if you take into account the price of transport as well as the weight of what is being transported. I appreciate your constant support, when you choose sustainable small businesses over large corporations.
Do you have a shop?
My main way of meeting you is book fairs, festivals and private sales. Ordering online through my e-boutique is the best way to support French Authors and Small Minority Owned business like mine. I also have a physical location present in Orange County accessible via appointment only. Please contact me through text to get more information!
