Lagos, early 1960s. The future looks bright for the twin sisters: the beautiful Olanna is in love with Odenigbo, a committed and idealistic intellectual; while Kainene, sarcastic and secretive, begins an affair with Richard, a British journalist fascinated by the local culture. All this takes place under the intrigued gaze of thirteen-year-old Ugwu, who has left his village in the bush and is discovering life as Odenigbo's houseboy. A few years later, Biafra declares its independence from Nigeria. A yellow half-sun, sewn onto the soldiers' sleeves and emblazoned on the flags, is the symbol of the country and of the future. But a long war breaks out, claiming more than a million victims. Alternating between these two periods, the author does more than simply bear witness to a forgotten conflict; she shows us how history disrupts lives. Soon, everyone will be caught up in the turmoil. The Other Half of the Sun is their song of love, death, and hope.

FAQ

Here are the answers to the most common questions I get asked, please review them and reach out to me if you need more info on something, I love to help you pick the right book, just for you!

Are the books New?

Yes, all the books that I sell during my bookfairs or online on my e-boutique are brand new.. You will be the very first to flip all the pages and enjoy the feeling of holding your own book in your hand.

What defines the prices of the books?

As a passionate small business owner, my goal is to offer a high level of quality imported from France at the best price. I understand that some people may be surprised by the difference of price between French and American books. In France, books are more expensive as authors and illustrators get larger copyright compensations. Also, imports cost quite a bit if you take into account the price of transport as well as the weight of what is being transported. I appreciate your constant support, when you choose sustainable small businesses over large corporations.

Do you have a shop?

My main way of meeting you is book fairs, festivals and private sales. Ordering online through my e-boutique is the best way to support French Authors and Small Minority Owned business like mine. I also have a physical location present in Orange County accessible via appointment only. Please contact me through text to get more information!
