L’art de perdre - Alice Zeniter

For Naïma, her family's native Algeria has long been little more than an uninteresting backdrop. And yet, in a French society riven by questions of identity, everything seems to point her back to her origins. But what link could she possibly have with a family history that has never been told to her? Her grandfather Ali, a Kabyle mountain dweller, died before she could ask him why history had made him a "harki". Yema, her grandmother, might be able to answer, but not in a language Naïma could understand. As for Hamid, her father, who arrived in France in the summer of 1962 in the transit camps hastily set up, he no longer talks about the Algeria of his childhood. How do you bring a silent country back to life?

FAQ
Here are the answers to the most common questions I get asked, please review them and reach out to me if you need more info on something, I love to help you pick the right book, just for you!
Are the books New?
Yes, all the books that I sell during my bookfairs or online on my e-boutique are brand new.. You will be the very first to flip all the pages and enjoy the feeling of holding your own book in your hand.
What defines the prices of the books?
As a passionate small business owner, my goal is to offer a high level of quality imported from France at the best price. I understand that some people may be surprised by the difference of price between French and American books. In France, books are more expensive as authors and illustrators get larger copyright compensations. Also, imports cost quite a bit if you take into account the price of transport as well as the weight of what is being transported. I appreciate your constant support, when you choose sustainable small businesses over large corporations.
Do you have a shop?
My main way of meeting you is book fairs, festivals and private sales. Ordering online through my e-boutique is the best way to support French Authors and Small Minority Owned business like mine. I also have a physical location present in Orange County accessible via appointment only. Please contact me through text to get more information!
