Le Livre de Joan
2 in stock - Almost gone!
England, 1318. Joan of Leeds makes a daring gamble to escape from the Benedictine Abbey of Saint Clement, where she has been cloistered since childhood. By candlelight, the young woman reveals her plan to a few trusted sisters: since only death can release a nun from her vows, she will feign her own death to evade the watchful eyes of her superiors. Thus begins an incredible quest that takes her all the way to London, during which Joan will discover what the Scriptures had hidden from her: pleasure, knowledge, and freedom. However, she must escape the vengeance of the ruthless abbess, who is willing to do anything to recapture the fugitive. Paul Thurin crafts a work in the purest medieval tradition. Deliciously ironic, this coming-of-age story surprises the reader right up to its defiantly cheeky ending. Claire Julliard, *Le Nouvel Obs*. The author keeps us on the edge of our seats, without ever losing that playful mischief that perfectly suits his heroine’s character. Laurence Caracalla, *Le Figaro littéraire*. A quest for freedom, a thirst for revenge, flamboyant characters—Paul Thurin follows in Dumas’s footsteps with this spectacular and true-to-life story, which lends it an extra touch of soul.

FAQ
Here are the answers to the most common questions I get asked, please review them and reach out to me if you need more info on something, I love to help you pick the right book, just for you!
Are the books New?
Yes, all the books that I sell during my bookfairs or online on my e-boutique are brand new.. You will be the very first to flip all the pages and enjoy the feeling of holding your own book in your hand.
What defines the prices of the books?
As a passionate small business owner, my goal is to offer a high level of quality imported from France at the best price. I understand that some people may be surprised by the difference of price between French and American books. In France, books are more expensive as authors and illustrators get larger copyright compensations. Also, imports cost quite a bit if you take into account the price of transport as well as the weight of what is being transported. I appreciate your constant support, when you choose sustainable small businesses over large corporations.
Do you have a shop?
My main way of meeting you is book fairs, festivals and private sales. Ordering online through my e-boutique is the best way to support French Authors and Small Minority Owned business like mine. I also have a physical location present in Orange County accessible via appointment only. Please contact me through text to get more information!
